BenBits has once again been vindicated in the appeal lodged by Perfetti van Melle Benelux BV. The Court of Justice has rejected the complaint lodged by the global confectionery manufacturer of Mentos chewing gum, among other products. Contrary to Perfetti's claim, BenBits chewing gum is indeed made from a natural gum base and is entitled to bear the labels 'natural' and 'plastic-free'. BenBits was convinced from the outset that its claims were indeed correct. From the outset, BenBits has been informing consumers in an honest and transparent manner about the plastics used in conventional chewing gum and also wants to point out alternatives without plastic. This allows consumers to choose for themselves which chewing gum suits them best. For more information, see www.benbits.nl.

Famous BenBits in salmiak flavor back in product range
Milan Dontje, director of BenBits, is pleased with the ruling and is optimistic about the future: "As of today, we are officially allowed by the court to call our chewing gum plastic-free and natural. And that's unique, because all other major chewing gum brands make their gum from plastic. And of course, they prefer to keep that under wraps. Imagine if everyone knew that they were actually eating plastic. Fortunately, BenBits is now the first Dutch brand that is plastic-free, natural, and vegan. This is how we are working toward a more sustainable future."
Milan continues: "I am pleased that the Court has once again ruled in favor of BenBits, confirming our determination. This ruling is not only important for the chewing gum revolution, it also means a lot for our role as a small and innovative player. We have demonstrated our commitment and belief in chewing gum and packaging that is better for people and the environment. We now produce our chewing gum in a unique turtle shape at our own factory in Heerhugowaard. We are also excited to announce our future plans to expand our product range. We have revamped the well-known salmiak flavor and brought it back to the market."
