BenBits believes that the Advertising Code Committee (RCC) has concluded, on improper grounds, that BenBits should not be allowed to use the designation "natural." Even though the ruling relates to products that are no longer on the market, BenBits fundamentally disagrees with the decision and its reasoning. BenBits is convinced that it was indeed entitled to make claims such as "natural" and "prepared with a natural gum base." The RCC based its judgment on an Italian study from Milan, where Perfetti's headquarters are also located. However, BenBits has submitted studies conducted by the independent and authoritative research agency Beta Analytics in accordance with ISO and EU standards. BenBits is disregarding the ruling of the Advertising Code Committee for now, partly because, as mentioned earlier, the analysis is based only on old products that are no longer sold.
Milan Dontje, director of BenBits, is disappointed and incredulous about the Advertising Code Committee's ruling: "Oligopolists such as the large chewing gum manufacturer Perfetti are trying to use their power to squeeze all small sustainable players out of the market, as evidenced by their international claims against similar parties. BenBits makes chewing gum as it was originally conceived and uses a natural gum base from sustainably grown Chicazopote trees. In addition, BenBits has plastic-free packaging. This makes BenBits the first plastic-free chewing gum; sustainable, vegan, and plastic-free."
New product line
BenBits has conclusively proven that its new products fully comply with the claims "natural gum base, Bits of Nature, plastic-free, plant-based, and vegan." Starting this month, BenBits will be manufacturing its new chewing gum at its own new factory in Heerhugowaard. The BenBits will have an improved taste and a unique turtle shape. BenBits also has all the documentation to substantiate its claims for these new products.
